Attorney Maureen Black enjoys a good challenge.
When a case presents her with a problem she's never encountered you won't find her backing away. She'll run right for it. It's her forward-charging attitude along with her problem-solving skills that define her style as a lawyer. But beyond fighting a good fight, Maureen always keeps the long-term happiness of her client's families in mind. When the case ends and the dust settles, she aims to set up everyone up for a soft landing.
When a divorce case involves children, Maureen maintains focus on what's best for them. Some of the highlights of her career come from times when she's fought for children's well-being. Whether that meant protecting them from an abusive parent or making sure a deserving client got full custody, the children were never forgotten in her cases.
Maureen comes from a big family. She grew up with three siblings and her Mom had a whopping 10 siblings. So it should come as no surprise that she lands right in the middle of 37 cousins, with 16 great-grandchildren and counting. Despite some hectic holidays, having such a large family allowed her to see the varied and interesting ways families can happily live.
It was being exposed to this big family atmosphere that inspired her to get into the business of helping families full-time. Maureen got her law degree from the University of Dayton in Ohio. Even while earning her degree she cut her teeth defending children working for the juvenile division of the Public Defender's Office.
It was during her time there, on her first day of class, that she met her husband. They had their first child in 2016, and she stays close with her family back in Ohio.
When she's not fighting for her clients, Maureen enjoys exploring the city of Milwaukee and always finds something new to do. You'll often find her enjoying one of many brunch spots or attending a Brewers game during the summer months.
